Why Engineering?
Ever since I can remember, I loved taking what people saw as useless items and repurposing them into something new. When I was four years old, my grandpa and I took a radio-controlled car and modified it to make it more appealing. We took the flash from an old disposable camera and put it on the car so that it flashed every time the car hit a wall. In addition, we put a light bar on top of the car along with a siren so that it beeped when it went in reverse. Ever since then, I was hooked. I wanted more opportunities to design and construct. Curiosity always got the best of me, and I began to take things apart to see how they work and to learn from them. I started to construct and design more projects. I realize at about 12 years of age that this wasn't a phase; it was a passion. I knew from then on out that engineering is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
Yes, this is me.
Halloween costume (2014)
When I was a kid, most of my friends were superheroes for Halloween, but I was happiest making my own costume out of the spare parts laying around the house. Here is what happens when you have LED strips, a battery pack and a lot of electric tape.
Arduino Crane
2014 - 2015
When I was in 8th grade, I was in a robotics club, and each one of us made a robotic crane. We were given a kit, assembled the crane, and fitted it with servos. Afterward, we coded and wired it to a breadboard.
Rockets & RC Cars
2012 - 2014
Like every kid who loves engineering, I went through a phase when all I wanted to do was launch rockets and run my RC cars. Most of the time was spent fixing the damage.
Sterling Engine
2015
I found a kit for a sterling engine online and decided to build one for myself. I was fascinated with how they work and their unique designs.
Submarine
2015 - 2016
In 2015, I was fortunate enough to be a part of a submarine building team with kids who were older than me. I was in charge of designing the body because, at the time, I had little building and wiring experience. As the project progressed, I was able to work more on the mechanical and electronic components.
I like to weld
2019
This year, I completed a welding course. It takes a lot of time and practice to become a proficient welder.
Bluetooth Speaker
2015 - 2016
I used a bunch of parts from my junk pile to create a Bluetooth speaker. I constructed the body from copper wire, a pool stick, and a piece of scrap metal.
Propane Canon
2016
I saw a propane gun online, and I thought it was cool, but cool isn’t enough for me. I decided to make it shoot fire rings. I figured this was possible because I saw people shooting fog rings from air cannons. I looked into the physics behind it, and after some tinkering, it worked better than expected.
